| 25-Jan-2003 | First update for 2003 and a pretty big one too! The VIA EPIA 800 motherboard has been sucessfully installed along side a 250W DC-DC power supply and new system enclosure. All is documented in the hardware section along with a few new images of the new setup, which overall is running great at the moment and seems to handle this hot Australian summer we are having better than prior systems
Work on the Autoplay software has been a bit slow of late, but current work is focused on a DirectX GFX conversion to speed things up a bit for the EPIA 800 and should be finished soonish. |
| 19-Dec-2002 | Updated the sound system images to include the new JL Audio XR525-CSi 5.25" 2-Way Splits which have been running with great success for close to a month now. A bit pricey, but very much worth it. Also Auto-Play 1.3 is now available, a few new features and alot of bug fixes.
Anyway, this will be the last update for 2002, so hope you all have a great Xmas and New Years... see you all in 2003! |
| 19-Nov-2002 | The new SB Audigy has been running with great success for close to two weeks now and the improvement in quality is amazing. The hardware pages have been updated with the change, along with an image of the card installed
Development of Auto-Play is also going along nicely, with a version 1.2 release a few days ago and some new fans of the software putting forward their suggestions and improvements.
Finally my next mp3car player is very soon to be in the works, with an upgrade to a VIA EPIA 800Mhz CPU/motherboard and DC-DC power supply - just to keep things interesting! As always stay tuned... |
| 5-Nov-2002 | Great progress has been made on mp3swift of late, so time for another update. Firstly after much trouble and stressful coding sessions, DivX video playback support is now reality, and it looks/sounds fantastic! A good way to really show off what the system has to offer.
So now as promised, I am pleased to offer a stable freeware release version of my mp3car software titled 'Auto-Play' - available here. Hopefully a few of you will try it out and find it useful and/or give your feedback. Keep checking back at that site for future updates/releases too.
Finally I have purchased some new hardware toys aimed at increasing sound quality - a Sound Blaster Audigy sound card (with a claimed 100dB S/N ratio!) and some really nice JL-Audio XR525-CSi 5.25Inch splits to replace the current JL-Audio fronts. With any luck the sound card will go in this weekend, and the new splits shortly after. Should be exciting! |
| 3-Oct-2002 | Finally set aside the time for another minor update to the website, which has been hard with various other commitments at the moment. Replaced the last of the older images in the sound/hardware sections with much better quality ones plus added a new specifications page giving a good overall rundown of the system as a whole.
Major bugs in my mp3car application have been fixed through re-write/re-structure of the code - in addition it seems that the winamp AVS plugin has a few stability issues with Windows 98 that were causing problems. Updated to the latest versions of winamp, directsound crossfader and a few others with changes all documented in the software section.
With any luck and some productive coding sessions, I will at last have DivX playback in my mp3car system soon! With that complete I will then be in a position to release a stable (and freeware!) version of my mp3car application for everyone to download try out/use in their own installs if they choose. |
| 10-Jul-2002 | The new PHP/mySQL version of mp3swift is now live and working, you may notice changes to the links/gallery page and a few other minor items. In addition I updated all text/images to reflect the newest version of the system featuring the 5.6Inch TFT display as the major enhancement. It has been running sucessfully for about 2 months now which is great. Next update will be the reworking of system software to add DivX video playback and fix a few bugs that have creeped in! |
| 13-Jun-2002 | Welcome to mp3swift.magnetikonline.com! Be sure to bookmark the new URL Finally made the decision to get some propper hosting and domain name. Expect some nice changes in the near future, currently the site is being re-written using php/mySQL, so a few new funky features like a link submission form, guestbook, etc. will be popping up shortly. With regards to the car the new system with TFT display, etc. is now installed and fully operational which I am really happy about. Stay tuned for new images/text describing the setup. |
| 16-May-2002 | Work is getting very close to completion on the next revision of mp3swift. Already purchased is a 5.6 Inch TFT color monitor, pre-cased with tripod which will fit very nicely where my current text LCD sits. Coding is near completion on the new mp3car application, written in Visual Basic 6, with some nice graphic effects, mp3 audio/DivX video playback and a few other features. Installation should take place within the next few weeks if all things go to plan (fingers crossed!). Look out for some big changes here covering all system updates, plus expect the availability of the new mp3car TFT software for download as a FREEWARE application here when I it get it to a stable/releasable form. |
| 29-Mar-2002 | Decided to re-shoot a set of photos of the Swift since I have made quite a few additions/changes which were not reflected in the images taken back last year. These new images are of much higher quality and detail too, taken with my newer Kodak DC3200 digital camera. Eventually I will re-take all older images with the newer camera. Updated the gallery page (newer images), plus changes to the car page to cover recent modifications/better images and finally, the links page has been added to and split up into multiple pages to handle all the links. |
| 26-Jan-2002 | I have recently opened a new website, just for Australian and New Zealand mp3car builders. Titled the 'mp3car australian portal', the site aims to help bring together local members and provide useful links and resources. Check it out at austmp3car.tk. On another note, there is now a much easier way to view the latest at mp3swift, by clicking to magnetik.tk. |
| 30-Dec-2001 | The Pioneer steering wheel remote and custom IRman unit is now finally installed and was well worth the effort. Text and images can be seen in the hardware/ir remote control section. Updated the links page with a few new sites of interest and last but not least this website has picked up its first ever award by winning a 2001/2002 Golden Web Award. |
| 26-Nov-2001 | Been some time between updates due to work/other commitments, but modifications to the control system are soon to take place with the purchase of a Pioneer CD-SR77 steering wheel remote and construction of a new IRman unit. Expect to see images/details sometime soon. In addition placed a new webcounter on the pages since the old one seemed to loose the ability to count! |
| 20-Sep-2001 | Made modifications to the ATX power supply unit to work better with the inverter. As well as drawing less current all buzzing is now completely gone from the output signal and now really sounds fantastic. Also changed BIOS power settings removing the need for the soft-power push button. Read about the changes in the hardware/power supply section. |
| 18-Aug-2001 | Made some enhancements and fixes to the mp3car application plus updated the software/mp3 app section with some better detailed information and screenshots. |
| 2-Aug-2001 | The swift and mp3car system is starting to get some coverage! German Suzuki Swift Website creator Frank has added the car and system details to the swift photo gallery. Be sure to check it out, along with the rest of this very comprehensive Suzuki site at swiftmania.de. |
| 23-Jul-2001 | Added alt text descriptions/comments to all the main area images. |
| 17-Jul-2001 | Added some new software links. |
| 12-Jul-2001 | Official launch of the website. |
| 16-Jun-2001 | Added a Creative Vibra 128 Sound card, due to poor quality on-board sound. |
| 9-Jun-2001 | Final installation into car. Everything seems to be running nicely. |
| 1-May-2001 | Working on mp3car system completion and stereo install. Also minor tweaks and enhancements to the software. |
| 19-Mar-2001 | Purchased the Suzuki Swift. Ideas of a new mp3car system start flowing soon after! |
| 29-Jan-2001 | Coding started on a new mp3car software system using Visual Basic 6, intending to run on a Windows 98 OS. |
